Hair salon in Umeå

A new owner has taken over Frisören & Kreatören in central Umeå and the salon is as awsome as ever.

Same quirky vintage interior, friendly staff and great coffee. I just love the new name Frisörkollektivet!

Visit the new website Frisörkollektivet i Umeå > They sell luxury organic haircare Rahua, swedish made Bruns Products and La Cordier. Davines is also a semi natural brand stocked, not for me, I'll stay in the all organic area!

The quirky interior features a real birch tree, a cute bird clock , reindeer horn coat hanger and much more. It's a must see in real life.

Dafna's Skincare

A beautiful advanced natural skincare brand from Spain, based on Ayurveda and natural ingredients.

The range is small but has most products I need for my daily routine.

I have tried a few of the products that were sent to me by Swedish Beauty Factory.

Nutrition is an aromatherapeutic night treatment/night cream. It has a soft creamy texture and is added after the evening cleansing ritual. I love the earthy scent and the rich light brown color.

Let's focus on the evening ritual since I got the Recovery Cleanser, Serum and Nutrition. I would have added Eye Care in there too if I were a customer but now I used Kahinas Prickly Pear Seed Oil Rollerball instead.

I began by washing my face with Recovery Cleanser, a luxurious balm to milk cleanser that removes dirt and makeup, at the moment I use NUI Cosmetics natural mascara which can be difficult to remove but with Dafna's cleanser it was easy. Afterwards the face felt moisturized and clean at the same, lovely for my dry skin!

I followed my cleansing with Dafna's Serum, an advanced active formula. It's important to note that Dafna's products are all active so if your skin is sensitve and easily irritated, it can be clever to go for a soothing skincare brand instead. These products are amazing for creating results and a glowing healthy skin though!

After the Serum I applied Kahinas Prickly Pear Seed Oil in the rollerball around my eyes but if I were to completely go for Dafna's I would have used their Eye Care instead.

Finishing off the evening routine I applied Nutrition, the active night treatment that is like a face mask left over night. In the morning my face felt moisturized and soft.

Dafna's is the perfect brand for all organic beauty lovers out there looking for a brand with natural active ingredients that helps combat dryness and signs of ageing.

Eco friendly hair salon in Umeå, Sweden

My favorite place to get my hair done in Sweden!

Beauty Factory Umeå is an eco friendly hair salon that gives you an instant calmness boost.

The decor is modern in subtle colors and as you enter, you walk down a set of steps and the whole salon is below ground level but has a few small windows so you get a bit of daylight, but you will not be sitting in your foils viewable to all that passes by.

The salon has a quite neutral scent as the chemicals used are gentler. They work with the ammonia and PPD free hair color from Original&Mineral Australia and when they style your hair they use either natural och organic products from among others John Masters Organics, Less is More Haircare, Edge Cosmetics and Per Purr.

LURK Natural Fragrances

I just found them, or they have lurking around on my Instagram for some time but I haven't quite paid attention until I needed a new perfume.

I got a few different samples of LURK made perfumes and I'm in love. The bottles are gorgeous, the name is different and eye catching, the logo and the packaging is just perfect.

They are hand made in SoHo New York using only pure essential oils in a base of jojoba oil.

You can read more about LURK perfumes here >http://lurkmade.com

The Organic Pharamcy

I have been a fan of The Organic Pharmacy for years, ever since I saw their store on my way to work on a dusty Sunday morning in London heading down Kensington High Street.

The Organic Pharmacy is a natural skincare line that is based on the healing powers of plants and homeopathy. Except for a large line of skincare including mens care, baby care and even makeup under a sub label named Organic Glam, they have herbal pills and tinctures to cure most ailments from the inside out.

A few of my favourites are the Jasmine Night Conditiong Spray, a facial mist to replace your daily toner that not only has a divine scent (I love Jasmine!) but also gives your skin a boost during the night. The Carrot Butter Cleanser is a classic that I know I'm not the only love loving, it's a daily cleanser that is like a salve, it is a very efficient cleanser and takes away everything, including eye pencils and mascara.

I always buy my The Organic Pharmacy products at Swedish Beauty Factory.

Acquarella Nail Polish

Have you ever tried a water based nail polish? The experience is a bit different, but if toxic free nail polish is what you want you will love this. Acquarella has plenty of nail polish colours and it is easy to apply.

How is water based nail polish different from traditional nail polish?
  1. It does not stay on tha nail as long as toxic nail polish.
  2. It takes longer to dry on the nail.
  3. It is essential that you clean the nails properly first as any residues from hand lotions or similar will make it difficult for the polish to stick to the nail.
I found it a bit frustrating that it takes about 15 minutes before you can actually use your hands, a great way to train mindfulness and simply not doing anything. I did love the colours and I used the Acquarella Remover before applying the nail polish (they recommend you do so) so the polish lasted about 3 days before it started chipping on the ends, ok I think for being water based.

Have you tried any water based nail polishes? Any recommendations to share?

Here you can see the whole selection from Acquarella >

Pai Skincare

Pai Skincare is a gorgeous natural skincare line focusing on sensitive skin. My skin is not very sensitive except during the coldest winter months when it gets really dry and easily gets red.

I have tried Pai Skincare Rosehip Oil which is said to be a miracle oil. I think you could compare it to argan oil as it is great for skin in every way.

The oil is light and absorbs easily onto skin. I have used it night time instead of a night cream and I quite liked it. My skin has felt fresh and rejuvenated when I wake up in the morning so I would highly recommend rosehip oil to anyone asking.

Where to buy natural skincare and haircare

Here are my current favorite shopping sites for natural and organic skincare, haircare and make up that ships worldwide:

Where do you shop?

Chocolate Sun

Wintertime in Sweden means pale skin. Gorgeous at times, but I still feel like a zombie looking at myself in the mirror.

To make my skin look glowing with a bit of colour I use Chocolate Sun Sunless Tanning Lotion for body and Gel for face.

They are easy to use and as I don't like stuff that takes time and needs a lot of work these products are perfect. I just have a shower, use the Chocolate Sun Body Scrub, dry off, then apply the gel on my face, and the cream om my body. It's like applying a moisturizer! The only thing I do after applying is make sure I wash my hands thoroughly and wipe off my nails, cuticles and between fingers and toes to make sure I don't get stains.

I then walk around in my robe (it's white but I never got a stain!), for about 20 minutes or so, just to make sure the color is completely dried into skin. I think you don't have to wait that long but I just like to be sure:)

As most of my reviewed products lately these come from Swedish Beauty Factory, I love that site and I actually bought these myself (thought I could spend a little money there after receiving plenty of samples)! Finding sites that have gorgeous natural cosmetics and look fabulous are hard to find, will list some favorites in next post!

Kahina Skincare

I'm loving Kahina Skincare! I received a Travel Basic kit from Swedish Beauty Factory, thank you! And have tried out the cleanser, facial lotion and argan oil for a couple of weeks now.

They are really nice for my skin. Not perfect, but nice. All products are based on organic argan oil from Morocco and are suitable for all skin types.

The argan oil is very nourishing and I think the products I received are perfect for normal to dry and maybe even sensitive skin. They have a gentle and natural scent and the packaging is clean and sleek.

Since summer my skin has been almost oily, which is something new for me, so these products were just a tad too moisturizing, but I think they will be great in a month or two when winter has arrived.

Kahina also do a beautiful job in Morocco where they support the Berber women extracting the argan oil. 25% of all sales goes straight back to them to help them develop their community. Love it!

Have you tried Kahina?

Organic deodorant

I am really having trouble finding the perfect organic deodorant.

I liked c/o Gerds deodorant and also a Swedish label called Rosenserien. None of them were perfect though and I am looking at Soapwallas organic deodorant.

Any more ideas? Criterias for my perfect deodorant: Lightly scented or neutral with roll on.

Miessence organic beauty products

I am currently trying out some products by Miessence that can be seen at naturalbeautylounge.mionegroup.com

Miessence is an Australian label with organic hair care, skin care and make up that is Australian Certified Organic as well as USDA certified organic.

A few years back I was a huge fan of their foundation and I will now have a go at some other products so look out for the coming review.
