Atlantis Watercolour

As you all know I am all about combining organic, luxury and nice packaging and in that area organic hair color for home use has a lot to desire.

This label is getting closer though and I love the idea that the hair dye is water based. It is also the world’s first non-peroxide, non-ammonia, semi, demi or permanent hair color and from what I have heard it is as good as all the other, more famous brands such as Tints of Nature and Logona. Atlantis Watercolor is an Australian label and as far as I know can only be purchased from Aussie shops, anyone seen it somewhere else?

Rahua

Another organic hair care label I want to know more about is Rahua. Based on the Amazon oil called Rahua, the products are said to make dry, damaged strands spring to life with renewed, bouncy elasticity, color treatments remain shiny and vibrantly true, and irritated scalps calmed.

The bottles look so exklusive and I believe they would make my bathroom look fabulous alongside my current favorite label, Rostedt!

Less is More

I'm really curious about Less is More organic hair care and am about try it out, anyone that tried them already?

Finding good organic skin care is a piece of cake compared to hair care and I am hoping for this label to give me the results I so dearly desire!

I believe this is the next label to be all the rage here in Sweden as I have already seen them mentioned in some of the largest fashion magazines.

Omani beauty

Our course and holiday in Oman was awesome! So great and inspirational that I can't wait to get started with everything we learned. The course was organized for Swedish hairdressers by a Swedish company and everyone involved from the make up artist to hairstylist and photographer was Swedish and as Oman is a traditionally muslim country it was really hard to reach the local women.

The Omani people are really friendly and the country was so beautiful. As we flew over Saudi Arabia on our way there I was watching the amazing desert and then seeing Riyadh, a city in the middle of nowhere was so cool. Speaking to the local men was very interesting and they were really open and keen to tell us about their country but ladies... There were Omani ladies staying at our hotel as well but speaking to them was harder.

The traditional Omani dress for women is a long beautiful dress covering every inch of the body and a hijab (I apologize to any muslim reading this if I am using the wrong words). The men wear a long dress also covering the whole body along with a little hat. As the ladies cover everything but their faces, and sometimes their entire face, the eye make up is what they show off the most. Walking around a mall in Salalah I was amazed at the imagination of these women as they used all sorts of eye shadows and even stones and gems to really stand out.

Henna is seen everywhere and they paint beautiful intricate patterns on their hands and maybe other parts of their body that I could not see.

In the small beauty department in the mall I did find some organic body wash and body lotion but that was it, although I'd not be surprised if these women are as aware as we are about the importance of organic produce.

I'll give you an update on the course that was all about styling and make up for photo shoots as well as some current hair trends.

We are going to Oman for a week full of inspiration! Looking forward to speak to local women and visit their beauty shops. How do they shop for beauty products when they wear the burka? Are they interested in organic produce? I am so looking forward to find out!

Hamadi

Today I received a package with products that I ordered from Hamadi Beauty and they are gorgeous!

I used the Ginger Soy Milk Shampoo followed by Shea Hair Masque and finished it all off with a spritz of Healing Serum which had a lovely scent! My red tousled hair is a bit shinier and the shampoo didn't get rid of more red than usual which made me happy. Red can be such a nightmare sometimes as it quickly gets dull and washed out... but I love it and intend to keep it at least for the winter!

All Hamadi products are certified organic by Eco Cert. They do contain a few nasties but the quality is great as this label is oftentimes found on the shelves in hair salons and nothing is tested on animals.

Vanessa Megan organic skincare

Don't put anything on your skin that you wouldn't eat is Vanessa Megans powerful slogan. The products are completely organic and this Sydneysiders business is growing fast.

Living in Bondi A few years back I first came across the label at the Bondi market, and as I moved to my native Sweden I just came to think of it one day and ordered some products to finally try it out.

I bought the organic Spray Deodorant, Eye Cream, Rose & Chamomile Face Cream,  N.E.O. Face Elixir, Love Scrub Body Scrub and Driftwood Body Spray and I am really satisfied with most of them.

My favorite is definitely the deodorant as it has kept smelling fresh for months now, and the body spray is lovely. Everytime I spray it around me I just feel so happy, balanced and at peace with everything! The creams and the facial oil are ok but nothing special and the scents are a bit too much for my taste. The body scrub is another favorite as the rose petals just makes it look so lovely in the jar! It also makes my skin soft like a babys.

Beauty tip of the day

I have recently come across British organic skin care label Balm Balm and their cute balms in pots and tubes in green, pink and blue.

The organic balms can fix almost anything and I have been told to get the fragrance free lip balm as it can also double as a perfume when adding your favorite essential oils. As you all know jasmine is a favorite scent of mine so I will definitely have a go at making my own solid perfume!

Click this link to see the top tips on how to use Balm Balm in many other ways on their own website.

A break

I have a had a little break from most things in life to spend some more time with my beautiful baby gal, sorry to leave you with an empty blog for a while...

Evolution

It's all so confusing, all these messages on how to do and what to eat and what to not put on your body. For a while I was all about the 'if you can't eat it, don't put it on your skin' thinking, but now I'm not so sure anymore.

I just want really good products with really cool designs that works. Stuff that does what they are supposed to do and no fuss.

As much as I love organic I do love the feel of a really clean scalp. I'm compromising here now, are you all ok with that?!

Based on natural ingredients combined with modern technology in an ethical way, are you with me?

Healthy Beauty

A book arrived in my letterbox the other day. Healthy Beauty by Samuel S. Epstein.

It's a book about beauty and chemicals. About what chemicals to avoid and what products to trust.

I have only read the first chapter so will write more about this book once I get through more of it. Very interesting for a start and the info is easy take in.

Best concealer

Another favorite of mine except Miessence fab concealer is Dr. Hausckas pure care coverstick. It conceals blemishes and dark circles under your eyes and has a creamy formula that stays on all day.

The best concealer not only covers blemishes but also soothes and treats them with tea tree and manuka essential oils. Anthyllis and calendula help banish redness and irritation while encouraging cell renewal.

Costs USD21.95 at saffronrouge.com and is available in 2 shades.

Facial spray

A facial spray is an allround beauty product that once you start using it, you cannot live without it. My favorite is Nature Girls O mist scented with rose and I always carry it with me. Perfect for resetting make up and refresh and regain focus.

1. Helps moisturizer seal in the hydration
It helps to lock in the water on the upper layers of the epidermis and prevent evaporation.

2. Helps dilute a thick cream
When using a thick cream you can mist a little and mix in with the cream to dilute it.

3. Hydrates your skin
A facial mist spray helps improve the condition of your skin when it’s exceptionally dry. This is really great when used during air travel as airplane oxygen and air conditioning typically leave our skin dehydrated.

4. Helps act as a mini facial mask
Spray some cotton pads generously and spread them on your cleansed face and you’ll find your skin more hydrated afterwards.

5. Helps set makeup
Mist your face after applying makeup to set it and give your face a fresh look.

6. Helps to blend makeup
Wet a sponge to apply your foundation wet. This is not something that really helps when your foundation isn’t applying well. You can also mist your eyeshadow brush a little to apply your eyeshadow so that it can stay longer or look more dramatic.

7. Helps to reshape my hair
You can not only to freshen up your face with a facial mist, but also to reshape your hair if needed. Well, water from the tap can do the same thing but you will find that a mist do a better job because they’re not so wet when applied and allows the hair to dry up much quicker without a hair dryer.

8.  Helps to soothe irritated skin
When your skin develops some redness or rashes a face mist can help soothe and calm down the irritated skin, Nea of Swedens Herbal Water with Tea Tree is perfect for this as it contain anti-inflammatory properties.

9. Helps to refresh your mood after a long day
Spray a mist on your face after and during a long day and you will instantly feel refreshed and focused again.

The herbal mist are great as they do deliver some skin benefits but do note that whatever skin benefits are restricted to the upper layers of our skin. And did you know that some of these products were originally created as dermatological products to be used in hospitals and burn clinics? Due to the spring water used, they act as natural healer for burned, irritated and delicate skin.

Fringe hairstyles

A fringe really can add something totally new to your hairstyle. If you are looking for a change a fringe may be what you are looking for.

A hairstyle we are seeing a lot of in the beginning of 2011 is a long and messy do' with a soft cut fringe like Kate Moss. Create the messy look using Lulu Organics hair powder from Saffronrouge.com it adds texture and gives the hair a matte finish.

Hair powder

Lulu Organics hair powder can be used on those days when you don't feel like washing your hair or just don't have the time. It can be used like a dry shampoo and is a really efficient way of making your cool hairstyle look non greasy and feel fresher without a wash.

The hair powder is easy to apply either right out of the can that has two different openings, or with your hands. One opening is quite large and is better if you want to apply the hair powder with your hands, the other opening has many little holes if you want to dab your roots using the can.

The organic hair powder has a gentle scent of lavender and can, if you apply extra, give your hair a matte feeling which I love. It also helps if you want to give your hair a fuller feeling and a messier look. I use it almost every day as it makes my blonde hairstyle so much easier to fix.

This fabulous product from Lulu Organics is a new favorite of mine both as a dry shampoo and styling product, it's really hard to find dry shampoos that work and as this one doubles as a styling product it's a bargain! Can be found at Saffron Rouge, click here to get there and start shopping.

A big bonus is that it's certified organic and therefore is gentle on your scalp and doesn't harm our beautiful environment.

Butter London Yummy Mummy

Finding an organic nail polish is not easy, as a matter of fact, it's impossible as nail polish can only be made with synthetic chemicals.

Butter London however makes their fabulous nail polishes without the 3 most harmful chemicals; formaldehyde, toluene and DBP.

Butter Londons Yummy Mummy is a great color that is supposed to look fab on everyone. I loved it as it gives a subtle color and a nude feel. The brush is good and the nail polish is easy to apply.

The color endured me having time off and coped with all the chores at home, but after one day at work as a hairdresser with washing, cutting and coloring my manicure was a distant memory. But after all, Butter London is a new favorite.

Rich Hippie Bliss

Rich Hippie Bliss is a deep, romantic, uplifting, feminine floral organic perfume with notes of Bulgarian Damascena rose and Tunisian citrus.

Rich Hippie perfume is made using the traditional methods employed by perfumers before World War II and the advent of the chemical industry.

Perfume history

Prior to World War II, all fine perfume was 100% natural and chemical free. Perfume was made by combining extracts from flowers and plants that were almost always farmed organically or wildcrafted with 100% natural "spirits of wine" or wine alcohol distilled from grapes grown in the great wine regions of France. However, after the war, the chemical industry, which had experienced rapid growth in response to the war effort, needed new market to keep factories running and began manufacturing "fragrance" or synthetic perfume.
